FAQS

WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

Currently, we are piloting our project. Our initial goal for this pilot is to be able to supply a class with Kindles in which they can then share as a school. In the school that we are currently piloting, there are about 33 students per class. While ideally, we would like one for each student in a class (33 Kindles), our minimum goal is to be able to send them 17 Kindles, so that 2 kids can share each Kindle. Any extra Kindles would be happily accepted and saved for another school or may be sent as extras if they end up having a larger class size.

Follow-Up: Why are you only collecting enough Kindles for a class?

As this is still a pilot and there are several challenges that we need to address and overcome, we will start by collecting Kindles for one class. First, we need to make sure that there are enough relevant EBooks for the school that can be downloaded. Second, we need to ensure that we can get these Kindles through the country's customs. Third, we want to make sure that these Kindles are being used by the students and not just kept with no use. Having a small Kindle goal allows us to see where we were successful in this pilot and where we need to make some adjustments.

Follow-Up: How will you track these challenges?

As for the first challenge, our team is looking for relevant books in both English and their native language. Once the school receives the Kindles, we will ask for their feedback on the diversity of the content and make changes as needed. For the second challenge, we will work with the receiving country's embassy to ensure that these Kindles arrive safely at their destination. As for our third challenge, when they are delivered, we will be sure to directly connect with not only the teachers, but the students as well.

WHERE DO YOU SEE THIS ORGANIZATION BEING IN A COUPLE OF YEARS?

In a couple of years, we hope to have reached out to multiple schools around the world. Locally, we would like to have a chapter in our school as well as other schools in the area, so that other students can get involved.
Our team continues to brainstorm other ideas as our organization branches out, so be on the lookout for more ideas!

WHAT KIND OF SCHOOLS DO YOU WORK WITH?

We work with schools that are located in remote areas where they do not have access to a lot of technology and books. These are schools that will gain the most benefit from receiving Kindles.

CAN OTHER SCHOOLS APPLY FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY?

Of course! We have a section on the website in the Get Involved page where schools can fill out a form to apply.

DO YOU TAKE MONETARY DONATIONS?

Receiving money is not a current focus for us, as we would like to focus on receiving Kindles. However, if you like to donate money, please contact us through our email (contact.projectcloud@gmail.com).
