SPREADING LITERACY AROUND THE WORLD
Spreading literacy is the overall goal of Project CLOUD. We aim to increase the amount of literature available around the world by delivering Kindles rather than physical books. This way we can deliver more books using less space, and we can decrease the total cost of sharing these resources.

BEHIND THE NAME
CLOUD stands for Connecting Libraries of Unique Demographics. We came up with this name first by thinking of our overall goal: to spread literacy around the world using ereaders. The acronym CLOUD refers to the ebook aspect of our organization; what we are doing is very similar to uploading files to a digital cloud. Once we came up with 'cloud', we brainstormed words that would fit into this acronym. Eventually we produced the phrase 'Connecting Libraries of Unique Demographics', which we all agreed represented the vision of Project CLOUD very well.

OUR STORY
Back in 2020, one of our members, Zoe, had an idea of using Kindles as a way of donating books to schools in her parents' home country, Indonesia. She'd always been looking for a way to do social work there and thought this was the perfect opportunity to do so. However, she knew that doing this alone would be hard, so she reached out to her four friends from school, Maggie, Claire, and Caroline. They all agreed, and that's how the Project CLOUD team was formed. Together, we started planning and brainstorming the foundation of our organization. We also started working towards making our first donation to a school in Indonesia, which is our current stage in developing this organization. We hope you can join us on our journey of spreading literature around the world!
WHERE WE ARE NOW
We are at the stage of collecting Kindles for our first trial. We will be doing a trial run with a school in Indonesia, to test and modify our Kindle donation and sending procedure. Currently, the plan is to collect the Kindles, download e-books that we find for free from online databases, such as Z-Library, onto each Kindle, then send them off to the receiving school, ensuring that they arrive safely. Our goal is to reach a minimum of 17 Kindles, but we hope to collect 30 Kindles for donation.
